I cannot recall how much time I've spent crawling under my desk trying to get to an open USB hub for a connection of some sort. What has also irked me about USB technology in general is that it requires you to connect the cord in a certain way. Given that there are only 2 ways to connect the cable, I would expect that the masterminds behind this technology could allow for either to work properly.
If you look carefully you will see a piece of white plastic inside the metal that holds different rods in place for data connection to your CPU. Why couldn't this be placed in the center of the connector, with dual-sided chips???
In short, USB is great, but the dorks behind it got lazy with the hardware creation.
